"My employees, by the luck of grace, heard that smoke detector"
luck of grace? a first, this is an another example how people speak without thinking first about what they are saying.
I was watching James Randi on You Tube last night and he rants on about how badly most of us speak, and I am sure I am just as guilty. So when thiest's give God credit for a so called miracle, they don't even think about what they are saying. It still drives me crazy when it happens. Every day in the news you see this, EVERY DAY.
James Randi is a hero of the Skeptic community. The man who offers a million dollars for proof of supernatural/paranormal powers. People have actually submitted claims and so called proof, but he has yet give the money over.

Haiti
Haiti is Hell on earth, it was that way before the earth quake. Jamaica is a close 2nd. I have been to Kingston and I have never seen such poverty anywhere else in the world. I think mostly its becuase they are islands very few can escape. Most are children of the slave trade and left
behind.
Because of the extreme poverty and its hopeless people, religion thrives. A young woman was pulled out after 50 hours of being buried alive in a mall and instead of giving credit to the Icelanders who rescued her, she said she never stopped praying and never lost faith. Makes me mad. It's even sillier because like most Europeans the Ice Landers tend to be non-religious. Not saying this group was or was not, but she still give God all the credit as usual. (and of course what about those others who prayed and died?)

Santa was kind this year
Now that I have a new laptop, I can blog regularly again. I could blog before now, but trying to share a computer with two teens is not easy.
Santa, or Mr. Clause as I call my hubby bought me a Compaq notebook for Xmas this year. Its more than we usually spend for the season, but it will be enough for years to come. Next year I will ask for something not quite so expensive.
The best part is now with my new job I am next door to the public library which has free wireless Internet. It's not as fast as my cable connection at home, but I can't complain. I now take my lunch hour at the library only about a block away from my office and check my email and surf the net.

The Crucifix

"The case was brought by Soile Lautsi, a mother of two who claimed public schools in her northern Italian town refused eight years ago to remove the Roman Catholic symbols from classrooms. She had maintained that the crucifix violates the secular principles the public schools are supposed to uphold, and the right to offer her children a secular education.
She filed her case with the European Court of Human Rights in July 2006, after Italy's Constitutional Court dismissed her complaint. Her efforts to rid public schools of religious symbols in a country that is predominantly Roman Catholic had not been welcomed.
Lautsi, who is of Finnish origins, and her husband, Massimo Albertin, said they were satisfied.
"We believe the ruling is a positive signal from Europe to Italy, which seems to increasingly lose its secularism," Albertin was quoted as saying by the ANSA news agency from his home in Albano Terme. "The crucifix creates discrimination."" MSNBC
We here in the US complain about the 10 commandments, at least they cover three religions. The crucifix on the other hand is "very Christian" and cannot be mistaken as inclusive. Good for Lautsi! a good woman and mom.

Heaven bound
Atkins, California's longest-serving female inmate, was suffering from terminal brain cancer. Since she entered prison in 1971, she became a born-again Christian who worked to help at-risk youth, victims of violent crimes and homeless children, among others
It appears,Atkins a Manson co-hort killer will now be in heaven. Please explain this to me.
