Gabriel "Gabe" James Jerome, 23, of Helena, beloved son, brother and friend died early June 1, 2008, in his bed of alcohol poisoning after a night of partying. Facing eternity that night wasn't part of his plan for his life; he was just having fun with his buddies.
Gabe lived passionately putting his whole heart into everything he did. He loved being a carpenter, hunting, fishing, wilderness guiding and just living in Montana. He loved people and had a true gift for seeing the best in them. He leaves behind many friends and a family that will always be proud of him and love him forever. Gabe was a graduate from Capital High School and was co-owner of United Construction, LLC. He was a member of the National Rifle Association.
The Bible says for a believer "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." Though Gabe struggled in his faith at times, we are confident he is with Jesus, and we will all be together again someday.
(According to this statement, just believing in Jesus, you will go to heaven) Many would disagree. He committed suicide? If you die from a smoking related illness, again you committed suicide? Drink and drive and die a suicide? No one who commits suicide is going to heaven and technically according to history are not to be buried in hallowed ground. I'm glad to see that no longer is acceptable to the general public, but there are some who still think that way. I wonder if the Catholic Church still rejects those who commit suicide?
A memorial celebration of Gabe's life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 5, at the Gateway Center, 1710 National Ave., Helena. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Gabe's name can be made to AA, Celebrate Recovery at East Helena Foursquare Church or a wildlife organization of the donor's choice.
